After the Noble Lady Divorced, the General Begged for Her Affection

Meng Qing was the granddaughter of Wen Gong, a respected and upright official. Though her family had fallen on hard times, she still possessed an innate pride. But after her maternal grandfather and mother died one after another, her father married her off carelessly for profit. With her loved ones gone, she felt there was nothing left in this world to hold her back. So she shut herself away at the estate for three years, avoiding worldly affairs and devoting herself to compiling books. Three years later, her husband in name returned, bringing with him a beautiful woman and announcing that he intended to make her a secondary wife. Meng Qing had no objections. He could take a secondary wife, as long as he divorced her first. She had no desire to compete with another woman for favor in the household. Her husband refused. Meng Qing sneered. “It's not up to you to decide whether you agree or not!” Wei Yuze had someone in his heart, someone he had missed year after year. But before he could make a move, the woman he loved got married. He was dejected and lonely, asking after her from afar until at last she said she wanted a divorce! Wei Yuze knew his chance had come! After the wedding, Wei Yuze learned flower arranging and how to play music. He was determined to be more talented than even the male courtesans at Qingfeng Tower, or how else could he win his wife's heart? His fellow soldiers teased him. “Brother Wei is enjoying himself so much, he's probably forgotten where the barracks are. He's at home fussing over his wife all day. It's downright indecent.” Wei Yuze snorted. They were just jealous. After all, he had a darling wife. Why should he bother with a bunch of bachelors? They knew nothing about the joys of marriage.
