This Online Romance Feels a Little Too Real

A reserved, sensitive college student vs. a sharp-tongued teacher who seems cold but is warmhearted and gentle within (a 26-year age gap)

A chance meeting during an art livestream brings twenty-year-old Qiao Ling and forty-six-year-old Lin Guang together, bridging their twenty-six-year age gap and drawing them into each other’s lives. The familiar warmth of their shared hometown binds them: the sugar-painting stall in the old quarter and the winter snow by the moat bear witness to their deepening love, from opposite ends of a screen to sharing every day together. Late-night companionship as she studies, gentle comfort when she is disheartened, and quiet, thoughtful acts of care draw their hearts ever closer, until they bravely confess their love on a winter night in their hometown. Faced with fierce opposition from their parents and doubts from friends and relatives, they never let go of each other’s hands. His hard-won steadiness and sense of responsibility shelter her from the storm, while her pure, passionate love helps them stay true to their hearts. There are no grand vows, only steadfast support through the years; no conventional standard for a suitable age, only the certainty of two kindred souls choosing to stay together. The hometown wind carries their devotion, and the lines of a sketch capture their perseverance. This love, born of a spark and true to the heart, proves in time that real love can cross every social divide, and that every steadfast commitment can bloom into a happy ending.
