Great Qin: The First Emperor Read My Diary and Lost His Cool

I, Ying Che, am the ninth son of the Great Qin Empire, an insignificant nobody in the harem. All I want is to lie low until Great Qin falls, then escape and live comfortably as a rich man.

To pass the time, I make a point of writing a snarky diary every day.

[Alas, my father Ying Zheng really does work himself to the bone! What a shame that after all his hard work, the empire he built will be squandered by Zhao Gao and Hu Hai, that pair of utter fools, in less than three years! Great Qin will fall in just two generations. It’ll be the greatest joke in history!]

[At court today, my foolish eldest brother Fusu was fooled by the Confucian scholars again. He actually advocated enfeoffment! My father must be spinning in his coffin already.]

[That idiot Hu Hai came looking for trouble again. With brains like his, he thinks he can be emperor? Great Qin’s fall will be entirely his fault, and he’ll deserve every bit of blame!]

I lie low in the palace, venting in my diary every day and feeling great afterward.

But I never imagined that my father, Ying Zheng, could see a copy of my diary every night!

At first, he flew into a thunderous rage, so furious he nearly lost his mind. He grabbed his sword and wanted to come cut down his treasonous son in the middle of the night!

“My Great Qin has a million elite soldiers and a flourishing state. How could it fall in just two generations?!”

Later, as he watched one “divine marvel” and “brilliant strategy” after another from my diary come true, he lost his composure again, this time in shock.

“You little rascal... You’re actually a genius who can govern the realm?! Guards, surround that sweet potato field! Kill anyone who dares approach!”

Later still, as he watched Great Qin grow stronger by the day and all nations come to pay tribute, he smiled with satisfaction.

Ying Zheng: “Che’er, will you accept the position of Crown Prince or not?”

Ying Che: “??? Father! Please, stop sneaking a peek at my diary! I just want to lie flat!”
