That New Year's Eve, with the Sea

The girl who broke into my life like a firework lit up my orderly world with her bravery. She would learn to smoke because of me and "force" me to quit smoking for her; she would drag me to the beach on New Year's Eve and make an endless travel promise under the fireworks. She said that if I broke my promise, she would disappear. When I postponed my promise again and again due to practical concerns (grandfather's death, financial difficulties), the light in her eyes finally dimmed.
