Dreamsharing with a Tyrant: He Clings to Me Day and Night, Begging for Mercy

After Shen Mei came of age, she began dreaming frequently. In her dreams, she was an empress whose word was law, teasing a man with her words, using every means at her disposal, and taking him by force… Behind gauzy curtains, they indulged in every kind of intimacy. In reality, Shen Mei was an unloved princess from a defeated kingdom. She was assigned to serve as a concubine to the princess sent to marry into another kingdom, and traveled a thousand miles to the Yan Kingdom, where she became a low-ranking consort in the harem of a tyrant rumored to kill without blinking. When her imperial sister made things difficult for her, Shen Mei said, “Back in the Yang Kingdom, you had the emperor and empress backing you, so I couldn’t do anything to you. But now we’re in the Yan Kingdom. Did you really think I still couldn’t touch you?” When high-ranking consorts picked on her and framed her, Shen Mei said, “You’re so dimwitted you can’t even frame someone properly. And if you try poison or black magic, you might just end up dead.” And facing the tyrant, whose temper could change in an instant, Shen Mei said, “Your Majesty, dreams are the opposite of reality. I’m just a weak woman who couldn’t hurt a fly…” The tyrant, Pei Zhe, gave her a knowing smile. “Your Majesty, aren’t you going to tie my hands today?” Pei Zhe had conquered a hundred kingdoms. Wherever he went, corpses littered the land and blood flowed for miles. In the eyes of the world, he was a tyrant through and through. No one knew that every night he met a woman in his dreams. At first, he’d felt humiliated and furious, but eventually he came to enjoy it. Yet after returning victorious to the capital, he never dreamed of her again. One day, Pei Zhe was strolling through the imperial gardens when he happened to see a bold woman holding a consort’s head underwater. When the truth came to light, the woman who had always seemed so lofty in his dreams wept like a flower in the rain. His heart ached at the sight. That night, he trapped her on the bed and kissed her earlobe, whispering, “I’ve found you, my empress.”
