[Past and Present Lives | Fake Dating | Soul Pact] Zhai Xin is awakened from a dream by the smell of aged vinegar and discovers an antique vinegar jar lying on top of her. The jar then transforms into a person, introducing himself as Renhou, a vinegar-jar spirit who has come to make her honor a promise from a past life. To deal with her parents’ pressure to marry, Zhai Xin makes a deal with Renhou and pretends to be his girlfriend. As they spend time together, she gradually recalls the deep bond they shared in a past life and eventually accepts him. The two face life’s challenges together, until, on her deathbed at the age of eighty, Zhai Xin makes another soul pact with Renhou, hoping they can continue their love in the next life.
