After Divorcing My Husband, I Became the Capital's Greatest Menace

Yan Qingyue, daughter of the wealthiest man in Jiangnan, grew up in luxury and was doted on by everyone around her. Because the scholar Chen Jingran swore his undying love and begged to marry her, she willingly married beneath her station. Barely six months after the wedding, Chen Jingran went to the capital to sit the imperial examinations. He was gone for over two years, leaving her behind to suffer in the Chen household. She served her parents-in-law while ill, and had to win over her elder brother-in-law and his wife and placate her younger sister-in-law. When Chen Jingran finally passed the examinations, the first thing he did was try to divorce her and marry again. He even brought a pregnant woman into the household. Awakening from a dream of riches and glory, Yan Qingyue looked at the man before her, still claiming to love her more than life itself, and felt nothing but coldness. Outwardly, Yan Qingyue remained gentle. She accepted his decision to take another wife and thoughtfully helped him choose an auspicious wedding date. Chen Jingran thought she had set aside her pride and loved him even more. Little did he know that Yan Qingyue had already prepared to leave, and had a grand gift for him on the day of his second wedding. Chaos erupted on the scoundrel's wedding day. Yan Qingyue emptied the Chen family's coffers and returned to her maiden home in style. Later, Chen Jingran made his way back to the capital, only to hear of a woman there whose wealth surpassed all others. The emperor had granted her the right to establish a household in her own name, a prince was smitten with her, and officials and nobles from every quarter sought her favor... The woman whom everyone in the capital, save the emperor, treated with utmost respect was actually his ex-wife?
