Crossing the Misty Waters

Based on its protagonist setup, plot elements, and setting, this is a period romance fan fiction, more specifically a subgenre that combines period romance with a martial world and political intrigue.

At its heart is the reunion of Nan Shuiwen and Lu Zhongjin, whose past relationship resurfaces. The emotional changes they undergo over the decade form the central thread, while a suspenseful subplot involving the illicit transport of military weapons by river adds emotional tension and dramatic conflict. This is not simply a sweet romance or a tragic love story, but a mature period romance grounded in reality.
