The Tenant in My Head

[A growth-focused story + no rivalry between women + devoted love for the daughter + a game set in the future + an underdog's rise] “Get out! This is my body!” A sudden bug during the game's closed beta put another person inside Yin Shu's mind. The man calling himself Ying Chenyi was domineering, trying to take control of her body. To get rid of this “tenant in her head,” Yin Shu had no choice but to return to the full-dive game. The game warned: “You only have one life. Be careful not to blow your cover.” - In the neon-lit abyss, Yin Shu looked down at the traffic, clutched her life-support chip, and gritted her teeth. “I'm going to make it back alive!” “What is this, some Gone with the Wind nonsense?” Ying Chenyi sneered. - Going undercover, fighting, forming alliances, and surviving a battle royale... The tenant in her head was always there, chattering incessantly to remind her of his presence. Until Yin Shu found the entrance to a hidden dungeon. - Thirty years before Future City. AI was only just emerging, and tech giants were trying to blanket the world in surveillance. People debated what was happening. “Of course someone tried to stop them. That's when I died.” Ying Chenyi fell silent for a while. “But who could possibly succeed?” Yin Shu smiled. “Then we'll try to stop them again.” “This time, we'll succeed.” - “But is this really just a game?” “Or... another world?” - - Ying Chenyi had never imagined that the person he'd once dismissed as useless could make it this far. The campfire flickered. The person before him raised a cup. “To victory.” Victory? Ying Chenyi had meant to ignore them. But the starry sky was too bright. He sighed and raised his cup. “Fine. “To our victory, even if it means mutual destruction.”
