Lady Protector Liang Hongyu

Liang Hongyu, born in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, is a famous anti-gold heroine in the Southern Song Dynasty. His grandfather and father were both military generals, and he practiced martial arts with his father and brother since he was a child. Because her father and brother were convicted in the suppression of the Fangla Uprising, her family fell into disgrace and became a prostitute in the Jingkou camp. Later, she met Han Shizhong, felt his kindness, and redeemed herself as a concubine. After the death of her original wife, Bai, she became his wife. In the third year of Jianyan's reign (1129), when Miao Fu rebelled, she traveled hundreds of miles at night to summon Han Shizhong to quell the rebellion. She was awarded the title of Mrs. Anguo and Mrs. Protector for her merits. In the Battle of Huang Tiandang in the fourth year of Jianyan (1130), she personally beat the war drums and commanded eight thousand naval troops to besiege Jin Wushu's 100,000 troops for 48 days, shocking both the government and the public with her victory with a small number. After that, he followed his husband to guard Chuzhou, marshaled the army, established military operations, and built defenses in the fields, making Chuzhou a barrier to the north of the Yangtze River. In the fifth year of Shaoxing (1135), he was ambushed by the Jin army on the anti-jin front line in Chuzhou. He was seriously injured in the abdomen but still fought hard and died of exhaustion. He was 33 years old. Liang Hongyu was both wise and brave, and managed the army strictly. The Southern Song Dynasty court posthumously named her the Lady of Pingguo. The people respected her as a model woman who "beat drums to drive away the Jin soldiers". Her deeds were widely praised in the opera "Battle at Jinshan" and other works. Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty praised her as "excellent in wisdom and strategy, worthy of history". With her legendary life, she interpreted the extraordinary responsibility of ancient women in protecting the family and the country.
