Director, You've Won Another Award!

S Long is reborn in 2002 and discovers that he has just graduated from film school.

At this point,

China’s top directors are still immersed in rural epics, while commercial genre films are only just learning to walk.

Hollywood blockbusters have only just arrived, yet have already left domestic audiences in awe.

Online video marketing? No one cares about it yet.

Box office? A yearly total of over a hundred million is already the stuff of legend.

But S Long holds the torch of the future.

He’ll use a low-budget comedy to break the box-office record for Chinese films.

He’ll use a science fiction film to shatter Hollywood’s supposedly unbeatable special-effects myth.

He’ll use a brand-new “studio model” to shake the industry’s famous directors to pieces.

While his peers cling to theatrical box-office revenue, he’s already investing in streaming and IP spin-offs, building a film empire without equal.

Golden Roosters, Golden Horses, Palmes d’Or, Golden Lions, Golden Bears, and Oscars: from box-office legend to cultural icon.

“Director S, what is your ultimate pursuit in the art of film?”

Standing on the stage, S Long looks out at the countless upturned faces below and speaks softly:

“My pursuit is to make you realize that your understanding of film is a whole era behind.”
