"Fragrance Mist Over Half a Year" is based on the twenty-four solar terms. It tells the story of Feifei, who failed in the postgraduate entrance examination, returns to her old alley to inherit her grandmother's incense shop. Together with the barista Cheng Siying, the umbrella repairman Zhou Bo, the art student A Ji and the parrot Huiyin, they use plum charcoal, coffee grounds, bamboo strips, pine smoke ink and other common materials to prepare seven-flavor healing incense such as "Luobang Incense" and "Reconciliation Incense". From the winter solstice to the summer solstice, they guarded the alley that was about to be demolished while repairing their own shortcomings: failure in the postgraduate entrance examination, frustration in the workplace, lost skills, and anxiety among their peers. The aroma of mist and coffee are intertwined, and the traditional and modern fragrances are combined, ultimately turning "failure" into a lively fragrance of the intangible cultural heritage community. The work uses the sense of taste to describe the inner thoughts, and uses the street scenes to reflect the world. It answers a question: the so-called "going ashore" does not mean squeezing into other people's boats, but repairing a broken boat into an ark that can carry incense, laughter, and fireworks in the world, and slowly move forward.
