Stormy Beiyang

The novel revolves around Zhang Qiming, a young intellectual. He was born into a dilapidated noble family. He experienced drastic social changes in the late Qing Dynasty and witnessed his father's disappearance during the Restoration Meeting and the loss of family assets. When he was young, he embraced the ideal of serving the country and devoted himself to the wave of the Revolution of 1911. He performed prominently in the student movement and expected that the establishment of the Republic of China would bring about political and social changes. However, with the rise of the Beiyang government, his ideals gradually collapsed.
