Amid the fireworks in Geylang neighborhood, the two bonded over cultural exchanges. With a unique background of blending Malay and Southern Fujian, Anita teaches students Malay slang every Thursday, and youths of different ethnic groups collide in the Chinese classroom. During the Lantern Festival during the Ghost Festival, Fujian opera is intertwined with Malay rhythms. Anita hums a funeral song in Hokkien, bringing out her grandmother's dying obsession across cultures. Under the arcade shrine on a rainy night, the lights and shadows of Emperor Guandi and Ganesha intersect, asking questions about the root growth of culture. They witnessed the Nyonya porcelain patterns on the homework books of mixed-race children and the hot Nanyang soup held in hands of different skin colors. They understood that although Chinese is the root, it coexists with multiple languages ​​​​in the nourishment of sea breeze, coconut milk, and spices. So we worked together to record the stories of Nanyang Chinese culture, visited old shops, temples, and traditional buildings, and integrated cross-cultural cases into Chinese tutoring classes. During the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival, Chinese cultural creatives integrated Malay patterns, Malay costumes were printed with Chinese blessings, and cross-cultural novels created by students were circulated in volumes. When the old overseas Chinese cried while holding the brochures, and when different ethnic groups shared the cultural works of the students at the Bon Festival, the vivid image of cultural inheritance and integration became increasingly clear under the stars. This is a journey of exploration of cultural roots. In the diverse soil of Singapore, Zheng Mingyuan and Anita used tolerance as a pen to write a warm chapter of cross-cultural exchanges, making Nanyang a unique and shining piece of the world's cultural puzzle.
