Black Goat's Egg

The mentor committed suicide after leaving a mysterious embryo in the laboratory. As his most trusted student, I took over his research. The embryo, dubbed the "Black Goat's Egg," pulsed in a petri dish, causing the lab rats to grow human teeth with each beat. When it first opened its eyes to me, all my colleagues started cutting off their own skin as if sleepwalking. I discovered to my horror that I had developed a morbid maternal protectiveness over it. And my mentor's last words echoed in my mind: "It needs a mother…a living mother."
