My husband's newly hired assistant accused me of stealing her family heirloom. That same day, my father, who had cerebral palsy, was locked in the lion enclosure. She dragged me out of my wheelchair, grabbed me by the throat, and slammed me against the glass, forcing me to watch as a lion carried my father back into its den.
"If you don't return the heirloom to Yue'er, your father will die."
Hearing my father's agonized cries, I sobbed uncontrollably. "I don't know anything about an heirloom. Please, save my dad first!"
He flung me aside. Ignoring my disabled legs, I crawled over to him. "My dad saved your life. Are you really going to watch him die?"
He put his arm around his assistant and impatiently told me, "Enough with the act. The lion is fake! Who would've thought that old man could act so well, even with cerebral palsy?"
