Threshold Phantoms

When he was eight, his closest family signed him away, and he vanished from the world.

When she was sixteen, the brother she had searched for over eight years returned to her as her “sparring partner.”

This is an era when Spirit Adepts make pacts with Phantoms and wield extraordinary powers.

It is also an age of awakening machine intelligence and lurking dangers.

Luo Xi, a genius young Spirit Adept, is the top favorite to win a spot on the national youth team.

Mu Han, a “ghost” who retired from the underground league, is covered in old injuries and cares about nothing but money.

She binds him to her side as a sparring partner with a contract he can't refuse.

He watches with cold indifference, wanting only to get through the days, collect his pay, and leave.

But the machine uprisings grow more violent each time.

And each opponent in the trials is tougher than the last.

Yet the dark blue eyes behind his mask are exactly like hers.

When the family's long-buried secrets come to light, and the order of “justice” reveals its hypocritical fangs

he puts down his blade and turns toward the abyss.

She grips her greatsword and pursues him into the darkness.

“If I were your brother, I'd run far away.”

“But if I were the one who'd been sent away, I'd hope someone would come looking for me.”

This is a reunion eight years in the making.

It is also the opening movement of a war that will engulf the star realms.
