My Seventies-Era Ex-Husband Won't Come Home, So I Marry an Officer Instead

[1970s setting + face-slapping + punishing scumbags + scumbag regrets it + comeback] Ming Xi, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, transmigrates into a period novel as the cannon-fodder wife. The male lead, Lin Jianguo, despises his wife and leaves on the first day of their marriage, not returning for two years. Her mother-in-law blames her for failing to keep her son close, while her sister-in-law thinks she’s useless because she can’t help her out. After enduring the vicious insults of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ming Xi decides to find Lin Jianguo and divorce him. Lin Jianguo hates his wife and already has his eye on someone else. He only married her because his mother forced him to. When he learns Ming Xi has come to divorce him, he agrees immediately. After the divorce, Ming Xi plans to return home, but she unexpectedly saves someone along the way and manages to get a job at the military compound hospital. There, Ming Xi shows off her skills, and soon everyone knows that a highly skilled traditional Chinese medicine doctor has joined the hospital. Lin Jianguo always thought his ex-wife was uneducated and had nothing going for her but her looks. But when he sees Ming Xi shine, he wants to remarry her. Besides, she’s so capable and knows so many influential people that her connections could make up for her humble family background. When Ming Xi hears what he’s thinking, she sneers, “Remarry you? Keep dreaming.” Was she unhappy with how good her life was? She’d finally escaped the pit of misery. Why would she jump back in? Was she crazy? Was her man treating her badly, or was he not handsome enough? Worried that Lin Jianguo might pull some strings, Ming Xi decides to get married. The man who wins the beauty’s heart: “Hahaha, thanks for helping me out, big bro ex-husband.” Lin Jianguo nearly spits blood. I’m the one marrying Ming Xi, not helping you marry her!
