“Director Zhang, I agree to take part in this undercover mission.”
The voice on the other end of the phone sounded serious. “Have you really thought this through? This mission is top secret. Once you join, your file will be sealed, and you won't be able to return to Jiangcheng for at least five years. Your family and friends won't be able to find you either.”
“My parents died a long time ago, and I don't really have any friends. I'm the perfect person for this mission. You know I've always wanted to reactivate my dad's police badge number. Please let me join.”
After a long silence, Director Zhang sighed. “You're still just a kid. Don't you have that older brother who's always looked after you? But if you've made up your mind, I won't try to talk you out of it. You have a month. Take care of things at home.”
