Lost in the Mist

[A two-faced, obedient good girl × a possessive, domineering, unhinged man in power / fictional foreign setting / deliberate approach / she runs, he pursues / feigned affection mixed with genuine feelings]

Meng Shuyao has been obedient and well-behaved since childhood, never daring to defy her father. From learning etiquette and completing her schoolwork to studying abroad, she followed every step laid out for her.

In her third year studying overseas, she deliberately entangled herself with a powerful, well-known man in order to escape her family's control.

Pei Yuzhou was born into nobility and wielded both wealth and power. He was famous in their circles for his ruthless methods and iron-fisted ways.

"I'm no gentleman," he said.

"Then we're made for each other. I'm no good girl, either."

Meng Shuyao stayed by his side only to seek his protection.

She never expected him to be even more controlling than her own father.

Realizing that a man like him was too dangerous, she decisively fled back home.

On a rainy night, traffic was sparse on the elevated bridge spanning the river, and a thin mist hung in the air. A silver Maybach sped past, cutting off the black sedan ahead.

Meng Shuyao watched the man get out of the car. His smile never reached his eyes.

"Where are you going?"

His voice was icy beside her ear. Meng Shuyao dared not look him in the eye. Her lips trembled. "I..."

Pei Yuzhou's gaze darkened. He forced her out of the car and leaned close to her ear.

"Who taught you to run after using me?"

"You don't think you can provoke me and then walk away unscathed, do you?"

"Yaoyao, for the rest of your life, you'll be imprisoned by my side."

Little did he know that later, he would be the one trapped.
