After My Younger Sister Stole My Pearl, I Became the New Mermaid Emperor

Among the merfolk, it takes a hundred years of cultivation to produce a mermaid pearl. I was born ugly and was seen as an ill omen by my clan from childhood. Desperate to earn their approval, I worked tirelessly day and night, and at long last cultivated a mermaid pearl.

But just as my cultivation was complete, my younger sister ambushed me and stole it. As I watched the clan celebrate her, I endured the pain wracking my body and called her out for theft. No one listened to me. Instead, they said that even an ugly person like me was making a fuss over nothing.

When she inherited the throne as Mermaid Empress, she had my bones and tendons ripped from my body. My own father watched coldly from the sidelines, even instructing her on how to skin me without getting her hands dirty.

After living my life over again, I looked at the mermaid pearl that was almost fully formed and stopped cultivating. Better to risk everything and carve out a way to live for myself than let them benefit from my hard work.
