I am the Empress Dowager who holds power in the current dynasty. I raised an adopted son, put him on the throne as a child, and ruled from behind the curtain, wielding power over the court. The world slanders me for building a faction of cronies, secretly keeping male favorites, and corrupting the court. One night, I dream that after exhausting myself to purge the court, I am treated with suspicion by the young emperor in my old age and ultimately die of illness in the Cold Palace. After that, I decide to lie flat.
