No Escape from Ailao Mountain

After returning to our dorm from a trip to Ailao Mountain with my roommates, I received a voice message from Mom. Her voice was choked with sobs and pure anguish. “Sweetheart, tell me where you are. I’ll get you out, no matter what!” “Don’t be scared. I’m coming into the mountains to find you right now.” I thought she’d been scammed and was just about to call her back. Then I turned around and saw all three of my roommates staring at me. The dorm head suddenly leaned forward. “That’s so strange…” The hairs on my arms stood up. “What’s strange?” She looked at me oddly. “Xie Yi, did your mom send you a voice message?” “Yeah. Why?” “But didn’t your mom die in a research accident in Ailao Mountain three years ago?”
