Face-Slapping the Fake Goddess Who Stole My Divine Beast Egg

The day the divine beast Yinglong hatched, I strangled it with my own hands, then chose a dying little beast and made a pact with it instead. My mother was so furious that she threatened suicide. “If you don’t bring home another divine beast egg, I’ll kill myself!”

I replied coldly, “Then go ahead and die.”

In my previous life, I had climbed Mount Kuaiji, strewn with sharp, weathered bones, to retrieve a divine beast egg so I could become the Goddess and protect my people. Day and night, I nurtured it with medicine brewed from my own flesh and blood. Yet on the day the dragon egg hatched, Yinglong crawled straight to my mother’s adopted daughter, Li Yuan, and chose her as its master. She became the new Goddess, and the entire clan rejoiced. Yinglong, however, threw me onto Mount Kuaiji, where the savage beasts of the mountains and seas devoured me.

Even as I died, I couldn’t understand it. I had personally taken care of everything, from bringing home the egg to hatching it. Why had Yinglong willingly chosen her as its master?

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day of the Goddess selection.
