My Husband Gave the Blood That Could Save Me to His True Love

My husband was the director of the city center blood bank, but when I was in a car accident, the hospital had no blood to give me. He had diverted all the blood supplies to keep in reserve for his first love, who was undergoing surgery. On my twenty-fourth call, Ji Chen finally answered. His first words were a merciless scolding. “Meng Nannan, you’re perfectly fine, yet you’re cursing yourself by claiming you’ve been in a car accident and need a transfusion. What’s wrong with you?”

“Rh-negative blood is rare. Do you know how many people are waiting for it to save their lives? And you’re treating this like a joke!” He hung up, and after that, I couldn’t get through to him again. He had blocked me. I wanted so badly to tell him I wasn’t joking. I really did need a transfusion to stay alive. In the final moments before I lost consciousness, I sent him one last text: “Ji Chen, I’ve given my life back to you.”
