The Plane Went Down, and My Wife Gave Her Oxygen Mask to Her True Love

My wife was the chief flight attendant, so when the plane went out of control, I calmly made my way through the panicked crowd toward her. But when we finally met, she snatched the oxygen mask from my hands and said coldly, “Wen Lin can't find his oxygen mask. Give him yours, now.” In the packed cabin, Wen Lin gazed at my wife with deep affection. “Thanks, Yanran. You're always so good to me.” The plane lurched violently. I had no time to fight him for it, so I turned to look for the oxygen mask at his seat. But one of the masks, which should have been there for every passenger, had simply vanished. In a daze, I saw Zhao Yanran gently put an oxygen mask on Wen Lin. Hand in hand, the two of them jumped from the out-of-control plane. If I remembered correctly, this was the ninety-ninth time Wen Lin had stolen Zhao Yanran away from me. Despairing, I sat in the cabin as it plummeted straight down, staring at the misty sky above. Faced with the choice between dying on impact and burning to death in an explosion, I chose the former. A moment before jumping from the plane, I sent my final voice message: “Goodbye, Zhao Yanran. I hope we never see each other again, for all eternity.”
