Everyday Life Protecting the Sea: From the Start, I Help an Orca Mother Give Birth

After graduating from university, Chen Hanhai landed a job at the local marine conservation center, where he began working on coral cultivation and marine research and rescue. During his first dive to plant coral seedlings, Chen Hanhai unexpectedly discovered a pod of orcas in need of help. Qiu Ya, the ocean’s “big sister,” had gone into a difficult labor and was on the brink of death. Thanks to Chen Hanhai’s superb “medical skills,” both mother and calf survived, earning him the trust of the orca pod. After Qiu Ya, the “big sister,” spread the word, Chen Hanhai became the ocean’s famous “midwife” without even realizing it! “From now on, just drop my name around the Pacific. I’ve got your back!” “Big Fool (the great white shark) dares bully my little brother? Tear it apart!” “My little brother is a first-rate midwife. Anna (the beluga), make sure you go to him.”
