Summer Job: My Roommate Wants to Work as a Pool Hall Companion

My roommates suggested we find summer jobs together. They found work as assistants at a pool hall. It wasn't hard work: we could sit in the air conditioning, play pool with customers, and earn money. With good performance, we could make over ten thousand yuan a month.

I couldn't bear to see them get scammed, so I suggested they work at my family's hotel instead. My dad took pity on them and offered six thousand yuan a month, plus meals and a place to stay.

But when they found out the floor supervisor made over ten thousand a month, they kicked up a fuss. They reported my family's hotel, accusing my dad of being an evil capitalist who forced female college students to drink with customers to boost sales. Under the banner of college students taking on workplace exploitation, they became internet celebrities and kept posting short videos online to harass my dad. My family went bankrupt as a result. Online abuse drove my mother into depression, and she jumped to her death. My father wrote a blood letter to prove his innocence, then hanged himself. After I handled my parents' funerals alone, I was hit by a car and died while wandering around in a daze.

I never expected to open my eyes again and find myself back on the day my roommates went looking for part-time jobs.
