Synopsis

She and I both married into the imperial family and gave birth around the same time. She gave birth to a dragon, while I gave birth to an ordinary human child. The heavens decreed that the emperor could only have offspring with a goddess, and that their child would be a dragon. So I was driven out of the palace. But I was ambushed along the way and imprisoned. She drew blood from my heart and tortured me day after day. Then, on the day the dragon hatched, she plunged a knife into my heart. Before I died, she told me, “Only a goddess’s blood can hatch a dragon and bring blessings and ward off disaster. You were the goddess all along.” When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day I gave birth.
