After Swapping Fates With My Sister, I Went on a Rampage

A great drought struck Jiangbei, and not a single grain grew in our one thin mu of farmland. My parents held out their hands and told my older sister and me to draw lots. I was sold to a pleasure house, while my sister was sold to the Song family as a maid. Years passed in a blur. I was caught up in a struggle for the throne and suffered the punishment of being torn apart by five horses. Two years later, my sister was tormented to death by the Song family matriarch. No one cared that we had died. A handful of yellow earth in a mass grave was already more mercy than we deserved.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day we drew lots. My sister’s trembling hand was just reaching for the paper ball in our father’s hand when I caught her. “Sis, do you want to defy fate and change our lives?”
