The Eternal Romance of a Chess Piece

This is the story of Ouyang Xiu and a chess piece. This chess piece is the Yunnan Go piece, also known as Yongzi because it was produced in Yongchang (now Baoshan City, Yunnan Province). Ouyang Xiu and singer Fan Yaner obtained 181 black Yongzi from Qian Weiyan, a descendant of King Qian of Wuyue Kingdom, while the other 180 white Yongzi were missing. In order to protect the 181 eternal sons, Ouyang Xiu lost his beloved Fan Yaner. The process of collecting Hei Yongzi and searching for the lost Bai Yongzi was deeply integrated with Ouyang Xiu's rough life. Mei Yaochen, Mu Xiu, Xue Jingxiang, Zhang Jingting, Su Shi and Qin Cao all participated in this process to a greater or lesser extent, and thus performed a generous elegiac song that was full of tears.
