Leaving the Marquis's Household

On the day commoner He Qingqing married the great general Shen Hancheng, he didn’t even enter the bridal chamber. He left his new bride behind and went to quell a rebellion under imperial orders. Qingqing endured three years of a lonely marriage at the marquis’s estate, suffering countless cold stares. Just as she finally made it through to Shen Hancheng’s triumphant return, he brought back his “unforgettable first love” and a boy whose parentage was anyone’s guess. Qingqing was furious. Shen Hancheng explained, “I’m only the child’s godfather.” Looking at the boy’s features, so much like her husband’s, Qingqing gave a bitter smile. Godfather? Who would believe that? -- Shen Hancheng was born into nobility, a brilliant scholar and warrior, and the favored son of heaven. He had married a commoner only to repay her for saving his life. Shen Hancheng was a man of responsibility. Though their stations were worlds apart, he believed he had done his duty by his wife. He thought she should be content. But later, she insisted on divorcing him. Angry that she didn’t know what was good for her, he waved her away, declaring they should each go their separate ways. But once she was truly gone, his heart felt empty. Shen Hancheng gritted his teeth and swore he would never lower himself to a woman. He held out for nearly six months, but in the end, he swallowed his pride and went after her. Serious drama; both leads have only ever been with each other; one-on-one romance
