The Trials of a Good Wife

On my wedding day, my elder half-sister ran away. Disdainful of the fallen General’s household, she eloped with another man. Xiao Jingming stood there with red-rimmed eyes in the wind. I stepped forward in my red wedding dress and said, “I’ll marry him.” Everyone said I was shameless, snatching up the man my sister didn’t want. After the wedding banquet, Xiao Jingming once pinched my face, so like my sister’s, and said with disgust, “You think a face that looks seven parts like Mu’er’s will win my love?” I spent three years in the General’s household, doing so much for him that I was even willing to give up my life in a crisis. That was all it took to earn a little of his affection. Until my sister returned. With ease, she took everything from me.
