He's Gone Mad! The Emperor Read My Mind and Abdicated

After Tang Dou transmigrates, the emperor nearly loses his mind. On the surface, Tang Dou is respectful and polite: “Greetings, Your Majesty. May you live ten thousand years, ten thousand years, ten thousand years!” But what the emperor hears is: [This emperor has it rough. His own son is going to kill him before long.] On the surface, Tang Dou is full of humble praise: “Your Majesty is wise!” But what the emperor hears is: [You have so many loyal ministers and good generals, yet you choose the biggest traitors. You keep picking the wrong ones. Who else can you blame when you get killed?] On the surface, Tang Dou beams sincerely: “Your Majesty’s harem is so harmonious!” But what the emperor hears is: [You took so many concubines. Who else could get cuckolded but you?] On the surface, Tang Dou is utterly devout: “Your Majesty is truly blessed with more children, more blessings!” But what the emperor hears is: [You have so many sons, and every one of them is eyeing your throne. Tell me, aren’t you scared?] When Tang Dou realizes that the palace-intrigue plot is getting more and more ridiculous, she thinks: [Why hasn’t the emperor been killed yet? The princes should already be fighting over the throne!] At last, the emperor can’t take it anymore and issues an edict. I abdicate. Whoever wants to rule this empire can do it. I’m done playing with you all!
