A Scheme of Her Own

I was a maidservant to the legitimate princess of the reigning dynasty. Out of compassion, I saved a badly wounded man. He once promised to marry me, but because of my lowly status, he turned his back on me and denied the debt he owed for his life. He wanted to rise to the top, to become the princess's consort. And I, pregnant with his child, was pushed into a well on the princess's orders and left at the mass burial grounds. All because she was the mistress and I was her servant. A child born to a maidservant had no right to call her mother. Given another chance at life, I decided to give the credit for saving him to the princess.
