The Invincible Deity: Starting with the Simple Pleasures of Mortal Life

Cao Shuang died, but not entirely. At the moment of his death, a deity chose him, and he became a new deity. The upside was that deities could live forever. The downside was that deities had to answer to money. Oh, no, to merit, that is. Maintaining his divine status cost one merit point a day. It was cheap. But the temple Cao Shuang inherited stood in the wilderness, and with only ten merit points left, if he failed to earn more, his time as a deity would last only ten days. To avoid dying, he began earning merit whether he wanted to or not. That meant helping devout men and women fulfill their wishes. A young woman wished to escape her pursuers. Looking at his last ten merit points, Cao Shuang successfully gave her explosive diarrhea, using magic to defeat her attackers. An evil entity invaded his temple. To drive it away, Cao Shuang bestowed mouth sores and a spreading infection upon it. No, he added just a little excitement too, so the evil entity would learn that mouth sores were an illness and needed prompt treatment. Someone wished they no longer had to work a desk job, so Cao Shuang happily got them fired. Someone wished for good fortune, only to work overtime every day for a month after returning home and earn a handsome sum in overtime pay. Someone wished for... Looking back, Cao Shuang gazed at the peaceful world and the warmth of everyday life, smiled with satisfaction, and looked up at the sky. “Old Jade Emperor, look how beautiful these three thousand worlds are. Don't you think it's time we talked about my salary?”
