The Fearsome Old Lady Takes Down Her Ex and Beats Her Bratty Son!

Li Yue had just achieved financial freedom when she fell asleep on a plane and woke up inside a book, as a vicious old woman destined to be a cannon-fodder character. She became a mother without even having to give birth, and she took the initiative, dumping her worthless husband Liu Yunde before he could make her demote herself to the status of a concubine after passing the imperial examination to become a licentiate. Her eldest son had a violent temper and beat his wife and children. Her second son played both sides, currying favor with his divorced parents. Her third son was too quiet and honest, and couldn't express himself. Her fourth son was a crafty show-off who didn't value his chance to study. Her fifth son was frail and sickly, and suspicious by nature. Her eldest daughter ran away to escape an arranged marriage, while another daughter eloped... To avoid the tragic fate laid out in the book and enjoy a peaceful old age, Li Yue set about educating her five sons and two daughters, raising them to be decent and capable adults. She would defy fate and refuse to be cannon fodder. At the border trade market, Li Yue bought foreign crops such as potatoes and corn from merchants who had traveled from afar. She made a fortune through farming and built connections with all sorts of people. Years later, the common folk, now able to eat well and dress warmly, set up a memorial tablet in her honor. Li Yue became a venerable matriarch admired by everyone.
