Showbiz: I, the Emperor, Am Just an Actor

After graduating from film school, Wang Chen spent several years drifting in Beijing, but he was still stuck playing bit parts. Just as he was losing hope, his "Emperor Specialist" System activated. All he had to do was play an emperor to earn all kinds of rewards. The System even gave him a beginner's gift pack right away. With the System's help, Wang Chen went on to portray countless classic emperors from historical dramas. In The Han Dynasty's Greatest Emperor, his portrayal of Emperor Wu of Han delivered the line, "If the bandits can march out, so can I," making countless viewers' blood run hot. In Heroes of Sui and Tang, he played Emperor Yang of Sui not as yet another one-dimensional tyrant, but as a truly enlightened ruler, capturing Yang Guang's bluster and insecurity to perfection. In The Glory of Ming, his portrayal of Zhu Zhanji embodied the majesty of a true Son of Heaven. Years later, Wang Chen had conquered the entertainment industry and become the undisputed number-one emperor specialist in costume dramas, recognized by directors and actors alike. His fame had spread around the world. Yet when interviewed by media from home and abroad, Wang Chen merely said, "I am only an actor."
