Did His Majesty Pick a Consort Tonight?

Bai Jiang transmigrates into a historical court-intrigue novel. The male lead is a womanizing emperor who adores beauties of every kind. The heartless System assigns her an important duty: supervise the emperor as he chooses a consort to spend the night with. The wicked emperor likes to tease her from time to time. “You there, come choose a consort for me.” Bai Jiang: Noise from the imperial bedchamber? So what! I'll get it done! The female lead, a favored consort, stirs up trouble throughout the harem, driving the consorts to fight tooth and nail for the emperor's favor. The heartless System issues an order: help the female lead wreak havoc in the harem. Bai Jiang: Protecting the female lead is my duty! I'll get it done! As a result, she is promoted to the position of imperial bedchamber attendant. To stay alive, she urges the womanizing emperor toward an early grave, keeps a low profile and guards her secret identity, and works night after night making pills so she can find her way home. By accident, she triggers a male-lead scenario. “You're an interesting little palace maid. Why don't you become my friend?” Bai Jiang: Winning over the male lead is only natural! Keep at it! She had thought the womanizing emperor could obsess over his beloved consorts all he wanted. What did any of that have to do with a minor character like her? Then one day, the emperor's uncle, the male lead, wants to take her as a consort, while the ruler of a rival kingdom wants to spirit her away. Bai Jiang hastens the womanizing emperor's demise. Completing the System's missions feels great for a while, but then the dedicated System suddenly crashes. With no other choice, Bai Jiang steps into the harem's fray herself. Once the heartless System recovers from its crash, she starts mercilessly tormenting the wicked emperor. One day, the emperor is so furious that he coughs up blood. She thinks the novel must be ending at last. But once again, she falls into his clutches. The emperor lifts her chin and gives her a wicked, flirtatious smile. “In your next life, you'll still be my woman.” She watches a crow fly overhead. System, you can't do this to me! Why won't he leave me alone?
