The Tatami Galaxy

The protagonist, “I,” is a third-year student at Kyoto University. He dreams of a thrilling, rose-colored campus life with a black-haired girl by his side. But things don’t go as planned: romance fails, he makes the wrong friends, misses his chances, and always ends up retreating to his tiny four-and-a-half-tatami dorm room, wasting two whole years of college. “If I could choose again, would I have had a completely different college experience?” Starting from this question, the story uses the perspective of parallel timelines to imagine what kind of different youthful adventures might unfold if the protagonist could go back to his first year and choose another club.
