The Trainee Meng Po Hustles for KPIs in the Underworld

Underworld employee no. 997 was a fair-skinned beauty who worked hard, never complained about overtime, and watched her performance soar until she was finally promoted to apprentice Meng Po.

To make sure she kept her stellar work record, 997 took the System assigned to her at random by the Underworld and traveled through various little worlds, soothing the resentment of souls who refused to drink Meng Po's Soup because they were consumed by love, hatred, anger, or obsession.

In the little worlds, 997 wreaked havoc on scumbags and thrived, her hard work bringing her endless success.

As she kept up the grind, the Underworld's big boss suddenly took notice of her.

And the longer he watched, the more he got under her skin!

She'd thought a promotion and a raise were in sight. Who could have guessed that the boss would keep making empty promises while squeezing her harder and harder...

So 997 decided she was done grinding. She planned to quit and find somewhere to retire.

But the boss's gaze grew more and more heated. Later, he became her lackey. It just... made no sense.

Boss: “Wouldn't being the lady of the manor be nice? The treasury is yours.”

997: “Does she look like the kind of person who'd be tempted by a treasury?”

And so 997 sat amid gold and jewels with the treasury key in hand, grinning like an idiot. “Yes, I'm just an ordinary little darling who happens to love money.”
