Cemeteries Cost Too Much: I Put My Urn in a Bank Vault

Unable to afford a cemetery plot and penniless, Chen Chuang pulls some strings to stash his grandfather’s ashes in a bank safe-deposit box. A month later, the truth comes out. Chen Chuang makes the headlines that day and gets sued by the bank the next. The bank president says, “Kid, you’re really asking for trouble!” The lobby manager says, “I’ll mix cement into your dad’s ashes and scatter him everywhere!” A female employee sobs, “I worked so hard to pass the civil service exam and get a government job, and now I’m a gravekeeper?” Facing an imminent prison sentence, Chen Chuang sneers. Suing me? What about the time you forced a depositor to prove that his mother was his mother? “Want to deposit money? The kind where, twenty years later, you owe the bank 800,000 yuan?” Why does nobody ever bring that up! The bank is God, and depositors are nobodies. Money you withdraw belongs to the bank; only the money left under the cameras is yours. In court, Chen Chuang turns into a lawyer gone wild and drags up the bank’s old misdeeds. Fine, I’ll come clean: I’m going to teach the bank how to behave!
