Not to Be Messed With

During an interview for a variety show, the director, hoping to boost ratings, told each of them to call an ex and start with, “I miss you.” Gu Xi accidentally slipped and dialed her ex’s number. Gu Xi: “I miss you.” Ji Zhi sneered and deliberately said, “You said I had no house, no car, and no savings. I begged you in the rain for over ten hours, and you wouldn’t even look at me. Now you want to get back together?” “Go to hell!” That night, Gu Xi landed on the trending charts. The second time, Gu Xi was asked to call an ex again. This time, she was smarter. She planned to end the call quickly by claiming her phone service had been cut off for lack of payment. In the blink of an eye, the man paid one million yuan toward her phone bill. Gu Xi landed on the trending charts again. The trending posts called Gu Xi a materialistic, vain woman who changed boyfriends as often as she changed clothes, had no morals, and was unfit to be an actress. One wave of people condemning Gu Xi followed another. Just as she was becoming everyone’s target, a video surfaced. On a rainy night, the new business tycoon of the capital, a man standing at the very pinnacle of power, actually set aside all his dignity and knelt before a girl, pleading, “Xixi, please. I’m no worse than him. Won’t you turn around and look at me?”
