The Ice Age

Earth has its four seasons, and the universe has seasons of its own. In the year 7735 of the Cosmic Calendar, an extreme cold spread from the depths of the universe. Wherever it passed, all things froze, and fewer than one in ten living beings survived. Even the stars, said to never go dark on their own, fell silent. In an instant, the dimensions of the universe collapsed, and every galaxy was forced onto a path of survival and evolution. Just as the laws of evolution dictate: the fittest survive. The arrival of the extreme cold also brought with it a cosmic radiation factor. It plunged Earth into an Ice Age, while that same cosmic factor ushered in an era of great evolution. All kinds of creatures evolved, and humanity developed mutants as well, later known as the New Humans. Fifty years after the Ice Age began, humanity's evolution accelerated, but the extreme cold grew ever more bitter. The universe had officially entered winter.
