Good books.

My Private Library

An old reader’s personal library, full of books I think are good, in all kinds of genres. Some are books I read a long time ago. Please don’t flame me if you don’t like them. I’m not taking recommendations, and please don’t ask me to recommend books in the comments. (P.S. I only add books I’ve finished.)

A Reasonable Reader's Picks: The Logic Should Mostly Hold Up, with a Bit of Everything

I've been an avid reader for almost ten years, so my tastes are pretty varied. I recommend books for readers who want something beyond simplistic fiction: fewer tired tropes, fewer saintly characters, and fewer mindless face-slapping scenes. I also like books with relatable protagonists. More precisely, these characters act in ways that feel human. They can be good or bad, but their choices have to make sense. P.S. Please save and like the list so I can see what you enjoy. The list has reached

A Little of Everything

A personal, retrospective list. My tastes change over time. I like light novels, fan fiction, sports stories, historical fiction about contending for supremacy, multiverse stories, invincible protagonists, behind-the-scenes masterminds, family sagas, and showbiz fiction. I care a lot about writing quality and personal taste. I'm not into mindless wish-fulfillment novels. My tastes are varied, though I lean toward niche books.

No Female Lead, No Romance, and a Sound Worldview

I've collected some novels with no romance. Of course, I haven't read every book on the list, or necessarily finished them all. Some stop working for me as I go along. But I guarantee there won't be any romance, a heroine, or a hero. If a romance plot shows up later in a book I dropped before getting that far, please let me know so I can remove it. I won't include books tagged "no female lead" or especially famous titles, since everyone can find those easily. The list is full, so to make room fo

You Can’t See the True Face of Mount Lu, Because You’re Standing Within It

Readers sometimes decide whether a book is good or bad just by glancing at the title and forming an impression. Some go a little further and read the synopsis. But veteran readers know that ten chapters will tell you what a book is like. If you read ten chapters and find it unremarkable, it may simply not be for you. But if you can’t put it down, there’s no doubt: it’s right up your alley!

Starting a New List Because the Old One Is Full

To make the list, a book needs to have a strong personal touch from the author.

Lighthearted, Offbeat Picks for Veteran Reader Black Cat Jue

These days, I prefer books that feel fresh. Something lighthearted is even better. Lately I've been into farming and development stories, fan fiction, historical tech, and the like. The ratings are for books I've read at least part of. If I kept reading, it means I could get through at least the beginning, so none are rated below 5. Books rated 5–6 usually fell apart later or became ridiculously padded, XXX, so I changed their ratings.
