The Regent's Cherished Darling

The Regent had a secret affliction he could never reveal. After years of being unable to sleep, his temper had grown increasingly vicious. Then one day, he happened to get close to the Grand Princess, Tao Jiao. The Grand Princess had a problem lately: the bloodthirsty Regent insisted on holding her as they slept every night, and threatened to usurp the throne if she refused. To keep the Tao family from losing its throne, she could only cower trembling in his arms, letting his hot breath brush her slender neck as she listened to his gentle yet sinister words. “Jiaojiao, you need to behave. I prefer you when you’re warm. If you don’t behave…” Tao Jiao: “I’ll behave! I’ll be the best-behaved!” “Good. Jiaojiao is a clever girl. I’m sure you’ll live until the day I die.”
