Reborn as a Darling Lucky Star

Xu Sanlang, the third son of the Xu family, had terrible luck. He failed the imperial student exam yet again, and on his way home, he came across a young woman. Everyone in the village said she was far too bewitching, even walking with a sway. Surely she had to be a fox spirit. Chu Jin'er was offended. She was a little carp, not some little fox that reeked from head to toe. No matter how much Xu Sanlang's widowed mother objected, he still married Chu Jin'er. Strangely enough, one piece of good news after another came to the Xu family after their wedding. Xu Sanlang not only passed the imperial student exam, but went on to clear every hurdle and make it all the way to the palace examination. Xu Sanlang's widowed mother, who had suffered from a chronic illness, grew healthier by the day. Even the harvest from the Xu family's two mu of fields was far greater than everyone else's. Only then did the villagers realize that the woman Xu Sanlang had found wasn't a fox spirit, but a bringer of good fortune. Chu Jin'er shook her head like a rattle. She kept insisting that all that other stuff was nonsense, and that hard work was what made you rich.
