Snow over the Xiang River

Also known as: The Empress Has It Rough The all-powerful General Gu is marrying off his daughter, and she’s to wed the ailing emperor. On their wedding day, Gu Xiang presses a knife to the sickly emperor’s throat, refusing to go through with it even if it costs her life. The emperor glances at the blade and smiles faintly. “Other people’s daughters put knives to their own throats. You go one better: you point it at someone else’s neck, then have the nerve to act like you’re the victim.”
