Winning Over the General's Wife

She was the daughter of a disgraced official, forced to live under someone else's roof. He was a stern-faced general famed for his military achievements. They were worlds apart in status, but on a dark and stormy night, an assassin brought them together. The icy general fell in love, and from then on, sweet words were never far from his lips. He was determined to win his wife over. His wife didn't understand love? Then General Wei would personally lure her into his arms. His wife had spent too long cooped up in the palace and wanted freedom? He would send a grand bridal procession stretching ten miles to invite her to stay at the general's residence. His wife wanted to roam the martial world? It seemed he would have to call in his connections there. What? His wife ran off with another man? He would chase her to the ends of the earth and bring her back! The general gripped his long sword and crossed mountains and ridges, fighting his way straight to the palace of the neighboring kingdom's good-for-nothing Second Prince. What? His wife wasn't there? His wife had played a fine trick, luring the tiger away from the mountain. Very well played!
