The Spicy Little Chef

Su Tian has been reported to the county office. Someone suspects she is researching poison. They say anyone who catches a whiff of it immediately has trouble breathing and starts coughing uncontrollably. Some even burst into tears without meaning to. They only recover after getting some fresh air or moving away from the source of the smell. When the soldiers came to arrest her, they packed into the already cramped little shop until there was barely room to move. A crowd of onlookers also gathered outside. Liu Tianci looked at Su Tian questioningly. For a moment, he even wondered if she had murdered someone and cut up the body. It was exactly the sort of thing she might do. The county magistrate gave a token cough. “I’ve received a complaint claiming that you’re researching poison. Is that true?”
